Restaurants Coming Soon to Gaithersburg

EggMania

Set to make its debut at 385 Muddy Branch Rd, taking over the former Curry Place location adjacent to Indian Bazaar in Gaithersburg. The restaurant specializes in egg-centric Indian street food, featuring dishes like masala omelet, egg curry, and Goti Fry (sliced boiled eggs cooked with ginger, garlic, and chili, topped with American cheese and onion-tomato-based gravy). With franchises in several states and ongoing expansion across the U.S., EggMania is dispelling the misconception that it’s solely a breakfast spot. Emphasizing its presence in the lunch and dinner scene, the restaurant aims to bring its unique offerings to the Montgomery County community, with a beer/wine/liquor license hearing held in July. Stay tuned for updates on the opening date.

Kabob N Karahi

Anticipate the arrival of Kabob N Karahi, as “Coming Soon” signage graces its new location at 18232 Flower Hill Way (formerly Aaron’s) in Gaithersburg. The restaurant is gearing up to open its doors “within the next month.” Specializing in Pakistani cuisine with a touch of Indian flavors, Kabob N Karahi offers a diverse menu featuring an array of kabobs, curries, stews, and tandoori naan. Renowned for its Cloverly Village Center location in Silver Spring, which opened in 2008, Kabob N Karahi is celebrated for providing fresh, casual, and authentic Pakistani-Indian fare, all prepared with Halal meat. The restaurant is set to become a culinary staple in the Gaithersburg community. Stay tuned for updates on the opening date.

Le Macaron

Permanent signage for Le Macaron, a French pastry shop, has recently been erected at 7 Grand Corner Ave (adjacent to BurgerFi) in Rio. The menu promises an array of delectable offerings, including macarons available in 20 delightful flavors, gourmet chocolates, French gelato, specialty European-style coffees, classic French pastries, and homemade candies. The vision behind Le Macaron stems from the dream of its founders, Rosalie Guillem and her daughter, Audrey Guillem-Saba. Living in Florida and France respectively, they aspired to share authentic French macarons with the world and reunite their family. Originally from France, the family noticed the American take on the “macaron” often misunderstood it as a sugar-spun cookie or confused it with the coconut-based “macaroon.” With a commitment to consumer education and introducing true French macarons to the American palate, Le Macaron seeks to bring a genuine taste of France to its patrons. Stay tuned for the shop’s opening to experience these French delights.

Poke Bros

Set to make its debut in Maryland with a new location in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood, taking over the space once occupied by Next Day Blinds at 107 Market St W. The installation of permanent signage this summer signals the impending arrival of this popular fast-casual restaurant, known for its Hawaiian-inspired poke bowls. Established in 2016, Poke Bros has rapidly expanded, boasting over 75 locations nationwide.

The restaurant’s founders were introduced to the Hawaiian dish during a trip to California, and captivated by its appeal, they were determined to bring this healthy and fast-casual concept to the Midwest. Drawing inspiration from their own travels, the founders developed a unique poké bowl flavor that reflects their passion for fresh and accessible cuisine. Following the assembly line model of casual dining, Poke Bros offers a fun and customizable experience for customers to build their personalized “sushi in a bowl.” As the poké movement gains momentum, Poke Bros continues to grow, maintaining its commitment to delivering top-notch, fresh ingredients and authentic flavors across multiple states on the Midwest and East Coast. Stay tuned for a culinary journey that fills you up without slowing you down. Featured image courtesy of Poke Bros.

Peter Changs

Renowned chef Peter Chang is set to bring his culinary expertise to 637 N Frederick Ave in Gaithersburg, taking over the former location of Ichiban Restaurant, which closed its doors in September 2021 after 35 years of operation. Chang’s culinary creations are characterized by signature dishes such as Boneless Whole Fish, Dry Fried Eggplant, Crispy Pork Belly, Cilantro Lime Fish, Duck In Stone Pot, and Beef in Sichuan Chili. With a successful track record, including the opening of Peter Chang in Rockville in 2016 and Q by Peter Chang in Bethesda in 2017, the anticipation is high for the new Gaithersburg establishment. Scheduled for an early February 2024 opening, Peter Chang’s new venture promises to delight local diners with its distinctive and flavorful offerings.

Potomac Cookie Co

Coming soon signage is up at Potomac Cookie Co. at 109A Market St in the Kentlands Square shopping center in Gaithersburg, near Moby Dick and the upcoming Poke Bros. Potomac Cookie Co. is known for its “giant size” 4oz cookies and flavors include Choco-delight, Da Fudge, Dorothy’s Slippers, Double Dutch,  Peebee ‘n’ Yay!, and S’more Love. Construction is currently underway on the interior of the store and we’re told the restaurant is anticipating a December opening. Image courtesy of Potomac Cookie Co.

Nori Japan

Construction has recently began at Nori Japan (9615 Lost Knife Rd) in Gaithersburg. Back in January we let you know that the restaurant, which was one of the last remaining tenants at Lakeforest Mall, would be opening a new location across from the mall in the Montgomery Village Crossing shopping center, taking over the space that was previously occupied by Wok Express. We’re told the delay in construction was permit related. No opening date has been announced. Montgomery Village Crossing is also home to B2J Fish Soup, BLT Grill, Copacabana Bakery, Hook & Reel, and Los Amigos Mexican.
